Julie McKelvey is one of our favorite guests. Over the past couple of years we've talked to her about her hobby -- climbing the seven tallest peaks in the world. Last May she climbed the tallest of them all, Mt. Everest -- but that was actually Peak Number Six. Julie saved Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia for last. This week, Julie climbed Kosciuszko with her husband and two boys, making her last climb a family outing.
Oh, yes, and Julie continued her "Summit for Sound" program, getting pledges for the climb, with the proceeds going to help those who cannot afford hearing aids (in her non-hobby job, Julie runs a hearing aid franchise in central Pennsylvania). In all, Summit for Sound raised more than $250,000 for the Miracle Ear Foundation from Julie's climbs.
Congrats, Julie, from your friends here at the Musical Innertube!
